Strathisla Distillery

Founded 1786 as Milltown Distillery by George Taylor

Also known as Milton Distillery and Milton-Keith Distillery. The name was changed to Strathisla Distillery in 1951.

Oldest operating distillery in Scotland.

On 15 June 1993 Strathisla received an unexpected visitor from Louisville, Kentucky; a young black and white cat fell asleep among some bourbon barrels in a container awaiting shipment to Scotland. On opening the container some four weeks later, the cat staggered out, weak from hunger and drunk from the bourbon fumes in the enclosed space.
