Notes

Founded 1965

Closed 1984-1987.

Due to the special “Lomond Type” stills the distillery can produce different styles of whisky.

Another distillery of the same name existed at Tarbet- the other end of Loch Lomond, founded 1814. It seems there is no real connection between the two distilleries.

And for the Tintin-fans: Yes – Loch Lomond Scotch was Captain Haddock’s favoured Malt! However – in the original comics he was drinking Johnnie Walker, but in a translation from French to English of “The Black Island” in 1966, the name changed to Loch Lomond. Maybe named after the lake Loch Lomond, as the distillery only started production in 1966.
