Founded 1833 as Burnfoot Distillery by the Edmonstone Family.
Lang Brothers bys the distillery in 1876, renaming it to Glen Guin Distillery.
In 1905 the names is changed to Glengoyne Distillery.
The distillery sits on the border between the Highland and the Lowland. The stills are in the Highland, and the warehouses on the opposite side of the road is in the Lowland.
